Our History

Mothers On a Mission28 was established to support mothers and families healing from the devastating loss of children to gun violence, while Reese Angels4, Inc., founded in memory of Maurice Purnell. Sr “Reese,” was created to empower youth survivors of trauma through mentorship and counseling.

Both organizations share the same heart and vision — healing families affected by violence and rebuilding communities through compassion, advocacy, and holistic support.

Under the new name MOMS28 (Mothers On a Mission Supporting 28 Legacies of Love and Healing), the merged organization will integrate both missions: continuing to serve grieving mothers while expanding youth services, victim support, and reentry programs for returning citizens.

Mission Statement

MOMS28 empowers survivors of violence — including mothers, youth, and returning citizens — through trauma-informed care, mentorship, and restorative healing. The organization’s mission is to help individuals transform pain into purpose, restore hope, and rebuild their lives through counseling, case management, and community connection.

Vision Statement

MOMS28 envisions a compassionate society where all survivors of trauma and violence — regardless of age, background, or circumstance — are embraced with understanding, supported through their healing journey, and empowered to rebuild their lives with dignity and strength.
